Some stories begin with a race against time🐾💔
At the end of September, one of our members alerted us about a group of kittens living in an extremely dangerous spot. Their home was little more than a strip of grass behind a hazardous bend in the road, and one of their favorite games seemed to be running across the street.
It was not a situation we could ignore. Among those kittens was Camillo, whom many of you may remember and who was lucky enough to find a wonderful forever home.
And then there was Luna. A little tabby girl with watchful eyes and a very cautious heart. Like her siblings, Luna was rescued, treated, vaccinated and spayed.
We hoped she too would soon find a loving family, but her extremely shy nature made that path much harder. Luna never quite learned to trust humans enough to take that final step toward adoption😔💕
So when it became clear that finding a home would not be easy, Luna officially became part of our clowder. The first months required patience and hope. We hardly ever saw her. Sometimes she disappeared for days, and more than once we feared something terrible had happened.
Then, little by little, things started to change. First a quick appearance at feeding time. Then more frequent visits. And now Luna comes regularly and even eats alongside the other cats in the clowder.
To some, that may not seem like much. For a cat who has always faced the world with caution, it is a huge achievement🥹✨
Of course, we know it is not the same as finding a forever home. But as long as Luna chooses to stay with us, we will do everything we can to give her safety, care, good food and a family that is admittedly a little chaotic and often quite complicated. A family made of cats, volunteers, filled bowls and daily worries.
A family that is now hers too❤️
