Siria is a young kitty, around two years old, but she’s already been through enough pain to look much older. She’s always been one of the most timid and reserved kitties in the clowder: as soon as a volunteer sets foot in the courtyard, she would keep her distance, wide-eyed and ready to vanish at the slightest movement.🐾🐈
Last year, she experienced one of the deepest sorrows a mother can face: she gave birth to her kittens, but sadly, none of them survived. We watched helplessly from afar, heartbroken, unable to help her in time. That episode left a scar on all of us, along with a silent promise: we will keep showing up for her, gently and patiently.
And slowly, something is changing.
Since a bit more of a month now, Siria has started taking small but meaningful steps: she began tolerating the volunteers’ presence, even starting to eat before they leave. She’s still wary, of course, but there’s a new light in her eyes—a shy trust that moves us deeply.🐱💕
Siria is incredibly sweet. She never fights, she quietly steps aside, simply seeking a calm corner where she can feel safe. She’s one of those silent souls that quietly wins your heart.
We remain by her side, day after day, hoping that one day she’ll let us do more: offer a gentle touch, a gesture of comfort, a safer haven. But it will be her decision—and as always, we’ll be here waiting.🥰💕
